The Toy

Version 1

The iBuzz v1 is an audio activated vibrator with two modes:

  • Audio activation
  • Pattern mode - 7 different selectable vibration patterns

The package consist of a small plastic enclosure with two jacks, one 3.5mm stereo jack for audio input and one 2.5mm mono jack for modular toys. The iBuzz v1 is distributed with a single egg vibe, and two accessories which use the egg vibe: a jelly cock ring and a nub cover.

No information is available on the audio interface.

Three buttons are used for controlling the toy:

  • On/Off Switch
  • Up and Down buttons for pattern selection in Pattern Mode

Version 2

The iBuzz v2 is the second iteration of the iBuzz audio activated vibe. The package size was reduced by 50%, and the vibrator now supports 3 modes:

  • Audio activation
  • Pattern mode - 7 different selectable vibration patterns
  • Speed mode - 12 different speed levels

The package consist of a small plastic enclosure with four jacks, one 3.5mm stereo jack for audio input, 2 3.5mm stereo jacks for audio output (eliminating the need for a splitter) and one 2.5mm mono jack for modular toys. The iBuzz v2 is distributed with a single cord, dual egg vibe, and two accessories which use the egg vibes: a jelly cock ring and a rabbit clitoral stimulator.

The audio interface takes audio from a stereo wire running from the source to the input audio jack. It uses a RC low band pass filter running to an A/D converter on an 8-bit microprocessor. The value is used to scale a PWM signal going to a high current, high speed switching transistor. Since there is no regulation on the vibrator itself, power is controlled through the volume of the audio being fed into the vibe. Issues with clipping can occur if the source audio volume is too high, causing the PWM signal to stay at maximum.

One switch and one button are used to control the toy:

  • 4-state switch to set toy state (Off/Audio/Pattern/Speed)
  • Single button w/ LEDs (Changes Pattern or Speed when in relevant modes, LEDs flash to pattern or audio activation)

Tools Needed

  • Small (eyeglass) flathead screwdrivers of multiple sizes

Instructions

  • The iBuzz case is held together by plastic hooks. No screws are used in holding the two sides together. There are 2 hooks on each side, as well as 1 pin on each end of the toy. The pins can take a decent bit of force to remove, so be careful.
  • Take the smallest flathead and work it under one of the 3.5mm audio jacks. This should open the seam slightly.
  • Once the seam is open, work in the larger flatheads, making sure to be gentle so none of the hooks break.
  • Work around the case, getting the seams open as far as they will go slowly, until the hooks are visible. Push in on the hooks, and the top should come free a little more.
  • On each end of the case, work the screwdrivers up in size until the pins also come free. This will allow access to the top of the board.
  • To access the bottom of the board, the battery connections solder pads need to be removed. This can be done with braid or a solder sucker. AFter all solder has been removed from the pads, the board should come out of the casing. (No pictures of this are available because I'm just not THAT dedicated)
